Digital Painting

I have experimented with various methods for digital painting over the years.

One of my initial forays into digital art was a program I made in Processing called Paint by Numbers that simulates oil brushstrokes using varying patterns of geometric shapes. The idea behind the program is to copy the way oil brushstrokes layer on top of each other, with the strokes on top creating shadows on the strokes on the bottom to produce a textured effect (above). I have also created other digital painting programs, including ones that allow me to create a crystal-like effect by covering blank spaces with generated lines (below).
